Join Captain Bill Drewry (USCG #2804606), just minutes from downtown Seattle, in his 18′ Boston Whaler for a terrific guided outing on Puget Sound or the Hood Canal fly fishing for Coastal Cutthroat trout.
The Coastal Cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki clarki) also known as the Sea Run Cutthroat, or Harvest Trout, is a subspecies of Cutthroat trout with an anadromous life history. Adults migrate from the ocean to spawn in fresh water. Juveniles migrate to the sea where they feed and become sexually mature before returning to fresh water to overwinter and spawn. Unlike steelhead and other Pacific salmon, coastal cutthroat do not make lengthy migrations out to sea. Generally speaking, coastal cutthroat will remain in or near estuarine waters, which make them a unique and exciting inshore species for the fly angler. Trout fishing in the salt water is a special treat for the avid fly angler with a 5wt or 6wt rod. As a “catch and release only” species, this indigenous fish has made a fantastic come back in our local waters. The average size of these fish are 12″ – 18″, but we have landed a number of fish in excess of 20″!
Fly fishing charters are available March – October. Pick up and delivery to and from the Bainbridge Island ferry is available. All your gear, snacks and drinks are all included in this fun half day on the water.
